    Funding supports two educational outreach programs targeting parents of young children in the importance of developing healthy eating habits early in life, how the media influences food and lifestyle choices, and evaluation strategies of these media messages.
  • Second Harvest Food Bank/Boys and Girls Club ? Stanton ($25,000)
    "The Orange County After School Environment Task Force"

    Second Harvest in collaboration with the Orange County Boys & Girls Clubs of Stanton received funding to create a supportive "healthy food" environment and included the replacement of all soda and junk food vending machines with more nutritious alternatives.
  • YMCA of Anaheim ($25,000)
    "Y BE HEALTHY Fitness & Nutrition Program for the Anaheim Achieves After School Program"

    www.anaheimymca.org Funding will implement a YMCA sponsored fitness and nutrition program, health and fitness services and outreach to promote healthy lifestyles in targeted schools.

  • Pediatric Adolescent Diabetes Research and Education (PADRE) ($24,959)
    "Steps to Healthy Living"

    This program engages 5th-6th grade children and their parents in a walking program, while teaching about the importance of fitness and nutrition.
  • St. Jude Medical Center?s ($15,000)
    "Project Fit America"

    A second year of funding will install workout equipment for children in north Orange County school settings. Additionally, teachers and parents will be trained to help children use the equipment to stay fit.
  • YMCA Orange County/Active Living in Santa Ana ($31,869)
    "Project ALISA"

    YMCA OC will work with city officials and neighborhood residents to make changes to the environment that support an active and healthy lifestyle.
