  Funding was received to retain a physical education teacher at Santa Ana High School for purposes of encouraging and supporting physical fitness and reduction of obesity-related health risks for teens from low-income families in the Santa Ana area.
• Assistance League of Santa Ana ($10,000)

  Support currently aids the continuation of the Assistance League of Santa Ana's Dental Clinic, through the allocation of funds towards a portion of the stipend for a licensed dentist who will provide approximately 200 treatments to 140 patients.
• California Institute for Mental Health ($5,000)
  "Scholarship Funds for Cultural Competence and Mental Health Summit"

  The Foundation provided $5,000 in scholarship support for local participants in the twelfth annual statewide "Cultural Competence and Mental Health Summit" held October 6-7 in Anaheim, California. The Summit was designed to increase the capacity of local healthcare providers to work effectively with different cultural groups in multicultural settings specific to the undeserved populations of Orange County.

  Grant funding for KOCE-TV Foundation beta cam shoot for the "A Call to Action" and annual administrative costs of Partnership.
• NAMI Orange County ($12,000)
  "Hand to Hand"

  Partial funding was provided for "Hand to Hand", an 8-week course for young low-income families with mentally ill children. Parents will be instructed on strategies to identify, cope and provide for the special needs of their children as well as increase their knowledge in obtaining access to local resources.
• Orange County Child Abuse Prevention Center ($10,000)
  "Helping Kids Cope ? Minimizing the Effect of Divorce on Children"

  Funding supports training books and instructor stipends for "Helping Kids Cope", an educational program aiding parents going through divorce. The program will target individuals from central Orange County and will address strategies to reduce stress experienced by the children during and after divorce.
• Orange County Health Needs Assessment (OCHNA) ($5,000)

  Annual grant funding of the countywide health needs assessment, a systematic effort to identify priority health needs in Orange County.
• Planned Parenthood ($7,000)
  "Cervical Cancer Early Detection Services"

  Funds were designated for the purchase and use of a colosposcope and a cryotherapy machine for cervical cancer screening and early detection of at least 165 women at the Santa Ana Medical Center.
• VNA Home Health System ($7,000)
  "Operation Keeping Kids Safe"

  Funds were provided to outfit at least 50 homes of low-income families in central Orange County with a range of needed home safety equipment for purposes of reducing risk injury among young children.
