Funding Initiatives

Hospital Legacy Fund

The mission of this fund is to improve the health of the neediest and most underserved residents of Orange County, with particular emphasis on United Western Medical Center's historic service area of Central Orange County. The Foundation will address ways of promoting and improving the health of those most in need by advancing their access to prevention and basic health care. The fund priorities are to:

  • Empower parents and caregivers with information, resources and support to ensure the health of their children
  • Bring culturally relevant services and information into all communities served
  • Remove access barriers such as those due to transportation, language, cost or location
  • Stimulate innovative services and proven models for effectively addressing community health priorities and delivery system gaps
  • Assess the changing health needs of children, adolescents and families in order to develop community health priorities and strategies

Preference is given to programs that maximize existing resources and enable individuals and communities to take charge of their own health. Where possible, the Foundation will support programs which increase personal responsibility for health and strengthen families by educating parents about and involving them in their children's healthcare.

Gold Fund for Health

This fund has a broader scope, but more limited resources. Current interests include breast cancer awareness and access to needed diagnosis and treatment services. A portion of these funds may be used for other health information efforts countywide.
